Roles: MD, Germany and DACH region

The Client

SpotX is the global video ad monetization platform for premium publishers and broadcasters. It helps them manage all of their demand sources from a central hub, and monetise content. RTL Group, the German broadcast media giant now own a majority stake.

The Brief

We’d worked with SpotX in London and Sydney. When round8 moved into the German market, we asked them about their plans there. This lead us to source and broker a Market Entry Consultancy to help them evaluate the tech and advertising prospects in the DACH region.

Then, we worked exclusively with them to secure their German launch MD.

Considerations

We worked with SpotX’s European MD to formulate the brief: a target list of senior executives, shortlisted to six candidates with a broad and eclectic set of skills and domain expertise.

Mid-process, RTL acquired the business in the largest broadcast/ad tech deal in German history.

Naturally, RTL wanted some form of input on the skills necessary to fulfil the role, and, more over, the scope of the role itself.

We worked with them to redefine the role, engage additional talent, and deliver a reconsidered and expanded short-list of candidates within two weeks.

Results

Within six weeks of the RTL deal, they had secured their new MD – into a reshaped role with an expanded remit.

We benchmarked salary and comps levels, brokered the final package and stayed close to all parties throughout and beyond start date.
